A notice was received from eBay that two of my past auctions (Victorian Shower Doll and Prowling Faerie) were removed because they were miscategorized and should have been in the Mature Audience section.
Although eBay does not police their listings, they must remove auctions when a complaint is received concerning even the mildest nudity in the Dolls & Bears categories. Most of my fantasy creations are mermaids, selkies, and faeries. Being the natural little creatures that they are, they are usually scantily dressed and sometimes even have bare breasts. Nudity "complaints" have flared up in the past, but usually faded away. Lately, however, many artists are being affected by them and even some of my past auctions are being removed. EBay does permit nudity in the Mature Audience section, but many serious doll collectors tell me they never browse that area (and there are many other disadvantages, such as not being able to accept PayPal as a method of payment). eBay Mature Audiences Policy EBay Support has been patient and understanding in their attempts to find solutions. They first suggested that I keep my main auction page totally free of any nudity with only links to more detailed photos. Since complaints still persisted, they suggested placing the links in an "About Me" page where most any link is permissible as long as it doesn't promote sales conflicting with eBay. As it turned out, this method still resulted in auctions being pulled (and eBay credited back all associated fees at a loss to themselves since the items were already sold and paid for). On the next business day, I will contact eBay again to find out what I need to do so future auctions will be in compliance.
These restrictions are a bother at times, but it is eBay's strict rules and regulations that gains the trust and confidence of bidders and makes eBay auctions a perfect marketplace for my sculptures!
